Massage is the therapeutic application of hands-on deep tissue techniques to the voluntary muscle system for the purpose of increasing circulation, reducing muscle spasms, relieving tension, enhancing muscle tone, promoting healing and increasing range of motion in all breeds of dogs. Massage relaxes muscles, increases circulation, and loosens soft tissue.

Hands-on treatment decrease discomfort or pain and improve muscle and joint bio mechanics.

Applications

Frequency: If the dog enjoys massage, the session may last 30-45 minutes. Once a week by a professional is effective, particularly if the owner performs additional massage at home between sessions.

Benefits: Improved circulation, decreased muscle/soft tissue tightness, decreased pain and swelling.

Equipment: Trained practitioners.
